The Birkenstocks are back from the past! I wasn’t actually alive during the last trend but I am now. When I first saw people at my school wearing these shoes, I thought they weren’t that cute with their nature-looking style. I totally thought this trend wouldn’t spread because the shoes are just not that cute, but it turns out people LOVE them. It’s like every single girl at my school wears them. Birkenstocks have definitely grown on me but I just haven’t had the time to go out and by myself a pair.
The thing I really like about these shoes are that they’re very versatile. They work with both socks and no socks. They’re perfect for a casual summer day with a simple t-shirt and jean shorts. They add a more casual and trendy look to the outfit. Birkenstocks are also great for the fall. The most famous way at my school to wear Birkenstocks is with a thick pair of wool socks. Wool socks are what give the Birkenstocks that nature vibe. Of course, you can wear just regular ankle socks or some funky polka dot socks. That’s what makes these shoes so versatile. The other thing I love about these shoes is the type of vibe they give off. They’re more suited for a bohemian look which I am totally into this year. They look great with a pair of ripped up jeans and a floral lace kimono or even a simple maxi dress.

Have you ever worn black, gray or blue together? I have for sure. But all my friends always say, ‘ Those brown boots don’t match with your blue jeans’ or ‘That blue skirt doesn’t match with those gray leggings.’ In my opinion, I think these colors look perfectly fine together. I think you just have to wear the right shades of these colors together. Here are some pictures of clothing that I would definitely wear together.
Steve Madden Candence
Fitted Knit Skirt
Essential Legging Capri
Neon clothing, or as I like to call it, highlighter color clothing, is super fun! I love neon colors because it’s so bright and everyone will notice you. Plus, it is the perfect thing to wear during the summer. There are also a lot of different styles you can wear from shirts to shorts to dresses and accessories. What’s really perfect is to wear one neon color with another. My personal opinion is that if you wear, let’s say, a neon yellow shirt with yellow pants, I think it is a little overpowering or tacky. But it would be cute if you wore a neon pink shirt with neon green shorts and a neon pink thin belt.
Here are some of my personal favorite neon clothing:
Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Denim Short
Neon Animal Bodycon Dress
Black Light Optional Neon Yellow Fuchsia Dress
Dolce T-Strap Sandal
Printed Crochet Fringe 2fer Top
The easiest way to color block with clothing is to take really bright colors and put them together. For instance, try wearing a dark blouse with a bright colored skirt. Another alternative is to wear a very simple outfit but with a pair of shoes that are multi-colored. Even adding really big and bright accessories will help but make sure not to go overboard.
Here’s some color blocking ideas:

I have recently checked out H&M’s website and they have this super cool Virtual Dressing Room. It features a model which you can change and dress up. You can put on any piece of clothing onto the model from the catalog. From there, you can change the color if there are different colors available and it tells you how much the piece of clothing costs. It also tells you how much your whole outfit costs. You can try on anything from dresses to swimsuits and even accessories. If you’re ever curious about how something looks, you can see it in the H&M Virtual Dressing Room.
